Raul Cuero Interview- Sparking Creativity

The first concept that struck me in this interview was when Cuero brought up universal consciousness. He notes that you need to be aware of yourself, of your own nature, and of those around you. By doing this, any local judgement you have about a society or culture is taken out. This can easily be applied to everyday life through interactions with others, especially if you find yourself in a new setting or environment. Being universally conscious allows you to eliminate any expectations or prejudice you may have, and you are, in a sense, a more open-minded person. This could even help with jobs and interviews a little later in life. Another concept Cuero touched on was the changing of expectations. At first I was unsure of how this would play into everyday life, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized school and work could be effected by this. If you're used to doing what you need to, say the bare minimum, no one will quite expect you to go above and beyond and work harder. People can doubt you, but you can prove them wrong. I also think this can go hand-in-hand with the concept of intensity. Most people tend to be afraid of failure, so not many go outside of their comfort zones. However, if you step out of the box one day at a time and tackle tasks with more intensity, that fear will slowly start to ebb away. Doing the simplest of things can help, whether it be asking more questions in class, or taking that extra assignment. If you tackle things with a new vigor everyday, creativity is more likely to really be sparked. Cuero also brings up a good point about being in nature and how you fit in. This is a fairly easy thing to discover if you take time out of every day to simply enjoy nature. Grab a book and sit outside. Take a hike. Walk around. It's the little things that matter most, and that can really inspire creativity in everyday life.
